We didn`t think we`d actually go to Denmark on this trip before we left home, but we met Bodil in Peru, who convinced us to come say with her.
We flew into Copenhagen, and the weather there was disgusting for a the rest of the day, and the next, but we still went sight seeing, and walked all over the town. Copenhagen has a system where you can put 20 kroner (5 dollars) in a bike, and take it for as long as you like, when you return it, you get your money back. Sort of like an ALDI trolley. But it doesn`t work too well because all the bikes we saw were broken, and alot of the places where you hang the bike up were busted up as well. So we walked.
We saw the palace, and the guards patrolling in the rain, growling at middle aged Americans for going within 1.5 metres of the building. Also saw the statue that inspired The Little Mermaid, paid 7 dollars for an hour of internet. There is also a large church made completely of marble. But we got tired of the rain, and headed to Bodil`s place in AArhus (mainland Europe). The first night was again disgusting weaher, and Dave had the pleasure of walking in the freezing rain, while it blew a gale, in shorts.
After that the weather was beautiful, and we ate ice cream, went to the beach, rode bicycles (Denmark is flat), went to Tivoli which is an amusement park. Dave even had a swim- see the photos and video. All of this we did whilst Bodil wasn`t at one of her 2 jobs. While she was working, we went to museums (we had a card that got us into most of them). We saw a mummy that had been preserved for 2000 years in a peat bog.
Unfortunately we had to leave, and when we did, we went to Legoland which is an amusement park for all ages thank you very much. The coolest thing was a ride called the PowerBuilder, where you create or design your own sequence of spins, twists, tell how fast it should go. Also Dave enjoyed spraying onlookers from the pirate ship ride who thought they were out of reach of the pumps. You just have to give short, sharp bursts.
After all that excitement it was time to head for the land of sausages, beer, and those funny leather pants.
