So you all know we're in Queenstown which is like adventure capital!! Our first day we just mooched around and checked out the town and tried to decide what we wanted to do. We booked up for the Lord of the Rings Tour, River Boarding and Canyoning.Lord of the Rings Tour - We got picked up in a 4X4 and we drove to the top of a mountain and saw an amazing view of queenstown and all over really. On the hill in front of us there was a chracter that was fighting and he fell off a cliff there and he landed in a river which was filmed 20km down the road from there (they say it was obviously a really windy day). We moved on again to where the First Commercial Bungy Jump is and just over the road is where they filem apart down the river and there are massive stone sculptures overlooking the river either side, the sculptures were taken away as people keep stopping in the middle of the road to look. Then we went somewhere else, not sure which part of the film was done there, our tour guide was more interested in the early settlers. Then we went to the river did abit of 4X4 driving throught the river, Paul got to mine for gold!!! then we went to the part of the river where the Dark Riders ride down the river. This was a good tour but our guide didn't really explain which bit each thing was so I kinda lost interest, some amazing views though.RIVER BOARDING!!! ok so this involves us donning a wetsuit, life jacket, hard hat, flippers and holding onto a Body board for dear life!!! So we get to the Shot Over River and climb into an Eddie, we learn how to hold the board, turn and generally just try to follow the lead and do whatever they tell you to do. Essentially if the river wants to take you somewhere or spin you it will!!! So we hit our first Rapid which was the hardest and it was evil, I swallowed loads of water, Paul was no where to be seen he was at the back and the woman was telling him to kick and she had to help him. We did that one and went straight into and Eddie (calm water to one side of the rapids(it was a grade 3.5 rapids the worst you can do is a 6)) Paul apparently was upstream somewhere. So we hit the rapids again, it's totally terrifying, you have hardly any control you try and kick but you just don't go anywhere. Some girl couldn't do it at all and she kept bumping into me and dunking my board, I was thinking about drowning her myself!!! we spun, we got dunked, we ended up all over the place. It was definatly the most challenging thing we could have done. We went through our last rapid which was ManEater!!! We'd kinda got to grips with just going with the flow and seeing what the water was doing ahead, we hit ManEater and I was at the front, if you watch the video I'm the 3rd person to get to it and I go flying over it, Paul was at the back. After the that the water is calmer and you just float downstream. They got out a jetski with a raft on the back and they drag you around and throw you off, wicked fun. We made it back to the centre where they had rock jumps, a slide and a swing again you cna watch our videos on the blog. A wicked day, very challenging but so gald we did it although today (the day after) we are aching sooooo much.CANYONING!!! So once again we don a wetsuit, life jacket and hard hat. Today we have hard hats with names on so the staff just call you whatever is on your hat so they don't have to remember everyones names, I was FOX and Paul was MOJO. So we headed up the side of the canyon first then go to our first zipline across the canyon, tres fun!!! Then we had to absail down into the canyon. We got straight into it and down a slide backwards head first, Paul went first his face was a picture. We go to another waterfall slide and you have to lay in the water, cross your ankles, hold onto your life jacket and they lower you over the edge and let go (again check out the videos) afew people went first and the guy behind me kept saying how big is it I couldn't hear a splash so I said not to worry I'll scream all the way down then you'll know how big it was, I was screaming for ages aparrently everyone at the top was freaking out, haha. So we went in one group up the side of the canyon where we got onto a zip line, we were stopped over the top of a pool, which we had to lower ourselves down to a certain point then drop, so much fun!!! Then we did some jumps, first was about 5m the second was about 8m, it was high!!! There is apart of the river you have to swim down but there is a rock in the middle so you have to aim yourself to one side so you don't smash into it face first. It was all sooooo much fun this was definatly the best thing we have done here and I would do it again anyday, Paul sorry MOJO loved it too, he was first to go at everything proper little eager beaver he was!!! It was darm cold though!!! So now we're doing washing and getting ready to hit the road again, we have a bus at 7:10am taking us to Fox's Glacier where yes you guessed it We're Ice Climbing, with Spikey boots and Ice Axes (we had to Rob would never let me live it down if I went and didn't do this!!!)So that's the latest peeps. Hope you are all well. Take care and love to all.(to my guys at work I heard the news I'm so so sorry and my thoughts are with you all. x)
