Just a quick one from Rach to update you all on the madness that has been our second visit to Bangkok. Well we have indeed made the most of our 2 days here this time round, and actually all really enjoyed it! We got a boat from Koh Tao and then a coach from Chumporn and should have arrived in Bangkok at 5 am on Monday morning, but Thai time being the way it inevitably is, we actually arrived at 1.30 am on Monday morning! Never trust Thai travel agents, they always talk crap!
Half way through the coach journey we stopped for food though at horrid roadside 'restaurant' - (I use this term loosely!) and were barked at by the lady serving us, she was quite scary! Food was rank, and actually really expensive! So we stocked up on our good old favourites Pringles and cookies and I had an interesting cup of tea with condensed milk...mmm...
So we arived in Bangkok in the middle of the night, and off we wandered to Khoa San Road to find somewhere to bunk up for the night - which was most irritating as if we had arrived at 5 am we could have just sat in a bar and not had to bother with sleeping ggrrr! We left Mieke with the bags and wentto find somewhere, came upon the delightful 'Sweetie' guesthouse, which was really anything but sweet, we were offered a room on the roof - literally a tin can prison like cell with a double bed, but it was actually really funny and crazily cheap at 220 bhats altogether so we slept like logs!
Yumy McDonalds breakfast, a day spent shopping and in a ridiculously cheap internet cafe with the yummiest lattes ever! then we went to a Thai Karaoke type bar which was great and drank Beer Chang mmm. More shopping yesterady, I think we actually did 6 hours straight whoops! I got 2 satin dresses (coz surely 1 is never enough!) and then we found a tuk tuk man to take us to a ping pong show! woo hoo we were very excited but also slightly scared, and we had every right to be! Lets just say its something none of us would like to witness again! Ive never seen people more disinterested in what theyre doing in my life!
this morning has been spent doing er...more shoping, but its all so cheap we cant so no! I need to stop though as I have literally no space left in my bag and also slightly worried that I may now be just a tad over my 20 kg limit at the airport....eeek....wonder how much I can fit in my hand luggage......
Were off for our last Thai meal in a mo, then its a taxi to the airport and then a flight to New Zealand! Eeeekkk cant believe it, a month has gone by so quickly! Were all muchos excited and will be updating the blog when we get there and have booked our kiwi experience woo hoo! So I will say over and out from Thailand, and wish us luck for NZ!
