Hi all, think this may be the last blog from New Zealand, boo hoo! We are currently at the end of our month here and Im (Rach) here to update you on the last few days of our Kiwi Experience. The last blog left you at Wanaka eating fush and chups, we then ran off to play in an amazing kids playground where we had super funny pictures taken, I then lost my handbag coz id left it by the hostel, doh must be more careful with my valuables! It was picked up by one of our friends, phewf! Thanks Kibi. We then had a very chilled night in the hotel (the poshest we have stayed in by far!) although we didnt feel like travellers as it was too nice! We watched TV in our rooms, (end of Casino Royale - Daniel Craig - FIT) bliss, and the boys kept us entertained by cutting their hair - Tom chopping his dreads off and Marcus shaving his into an attractive Mohican esc mullet thing...hhmmm... We then watched a scary ,ovie Hide and Seek eeek me and Al had to cuddle together for safety!
The next day we set off for Queenstown, stopping off at Puzzle World on the way which had crazy illusion rooms which really wrecked our heads and for once we wernt even hung over!Poor Mel went to the doctors and was diagnosed with Tonsilitis and Laryngitis and bed bug bites the poor monkey. We also stopped off at the worlds first bungy sight The Kawarau Bridge where a few people off our bus did Bungys. Us girlies had all sworn NEVER to do one, what a daft thing to do haha - but then as we watched people the idea started to become more appealing....
Arriving into Queenstown we all had a group Kiwi Experience photo in front of the Remarkables mountains and checked into our Base for 4 nights. Big night out on that Thursday we arrived with everyone on our bus - was awesome - and we had our first Ferg Burger (the biggest burger in the world literally!!!) then the next day spent most of the day on the internet and eating mmm. On the Friday me and Laura went hanggliding - was wicked!!! Literally ran off the edge of a cliff weeee and I wasnt nervous at all! We also decided to all book our bungys - aarrghhh!!! Alex and Hobble made us a vat of yummy mashed potato and veg for our tea before we went out to an under the sea ball woo fancy dress again yey! Meike was a nurse shark, Alex was a dead pirate/sailor, I was a piece of coral - pictures to follow at some stage.
Sunday we all got kitted out as action barbie with war paint and shorts and vest tops ready for our BUNGY!!! eeeeek!!! There was 6 of us in all doing it, Mel wanted to but couldnt afford and Laura has a back injury so cant do one. Ont he bus there we had no idea why we had all payed to jump off a bridge haha but once we got there and the sun was shining off the river it was so exciting! Mieke was so brave and went first, performing a beautiful little dive off the bridge then our friend Kibi who was crying and shaking with fear while me and Al were getting strapped together for our tandem jump. Poor Al was freaking out and shouting at me coz I was randomly not nervous at all, but once some cool tunes came on she was super excited!
Was all so quick and suddenly we were shuffling our little boung feet to the edge of the ledge and the guy was counting donw "3,2,1" - I was like, "no no no were not ready yet aargh"! haha, within a minute though we were ready to go and after another countdown plunged off the bridge and it was AMAZING!!!!! Was so cool doing it in tandom too, after the first bungy we were hugging all the way down. You then get hooked by a pole and lowered into a dingy where some rather fit men unstrapped us. We were all so proud of ourselves but the day got even better when our friend Mel managed to wangle herself a Free bungy by doing in NAKED! woo hoo! The atmosophere was amazing with all of us shouting encouragement to her - she was AWESOME!!! Go naked Mel!!! We were all totally buzzing afterwards and celebrated with another fergburger. Had gorgeous chilled afternoon by the lake enjoying the sun and the stunning views, and Hobble getting chased by a rather agressive duck!
That night was our last with our big group boo hoo! And in the morning everyone got up to say bye to those of us who were leaving, it was so sad! Us 3, Mel and Laura and Marcus travelled to christchurch on Monday and checked into a funny little hostel that is strangely remeniscent of The Shining! Poor Marcus was very subdued wuthout his boyfriend Tom, but Mel and Laura cheered us up by cooking a yummy Carbanara mmm. Marcus left in the morning to fly to South America so its just us 5 girlies left now. Not really a fan of Christchurch - its too much like England, but weve been busying ourselves with shopping, its a hard life! Think I speak for us all when I say were fed up with being ill, theres a constant chorus of spluttering, coughing, snorting and nose blowing in our dorm room at night, mmm lovely! Were out tonight for a big un and hopefully doing some bone carving tommorrow to make my own necklace then on Friday we have to say goodbye to Mel and Laura which wil be uber sad!
Our Kiwi Experience has well and truly ended but we have memories for a life time, have made fantastic friends and have experienced so so much! Dont know how Aus can compete but were up for another month of fun fun fun. BRING IT ON!!!
