Soooo....Its Rach here (AGAIN) to update you on our overseas journey of a lifetime. I last left you in Christchurch about to depart for Australia - Nearly missed our flight to Sydney coz we were busy er, shopping again at the airport, whoops! We enjoyed some baccardi and finger dancing on the flight - oo and good films although they turned Miekes off before the end coz the plane was landing - rude! Stu met us at the airport, we hopped on a bus and checked into our hostel and our 26 bed dorm - oh the joy! Were total tourists on Sunday on a sightseeing bus of Sydney haha, saw the opera house, bridge, blah blah and I bought some rather novel souvenier pressies tehehe. We met some friendly firemen who let us sit in their Fire Engine for photo's hehe and enjoyed a couple of pints and some chips outside at the opera house bar listening to a live jazz band - was bliss! We then got a free roast dinner that night at a bar our hostel was promoting - all we had to do was buy a drink - bargainous or what?! Loving free stuff!
Monday morning we had an early start to catch our flight to Melbourne which we so nearly missed coz we went to Domestic departures (thinking Sydney to Melbourne surely was a domestic flight) only to be told upon arrival that we should be at international coz the flight then goes to Dubai! Arrgh - total panic and jumping the taxi queue to zip across before the check in desk closed in 15 mins - we love the drama really! No need for all the stress though as when we got their the bloody plane wasn't even there! So we busied ourselves for the next 2 hours with our favourite passtime - shopping of course! We now all have matching brown Haviana flip flops and I got a new camera yey yey yey Rach is back on the picture taking!
At Melbourne we checked into Base Hostel, opened the door to our room and found......our favourite girlies Mel and Laura hurrah who we were meeting there for the day. Much squeeling later and we got ready for the Neighbours party where we were tres excited about meeting the stars and seeing Karld Kennedy's band play. The whole night was very silly indeed and cheesier than an old stilton and turned out to be a bit of a letdown coz only 4 'stars' turned up (Rachael, Stingray, Connor - who had eaten ALL the pies, and sexy policeman Stu) and Karl Kennedy was in flippin Vietnam on his holidays! Rude!! They came round to all the tables to say hi but Stu's bodyguard was a total Nazi who wouldn let you near him until it was your specific time and Mieke got threatened for touching his hair! A tad OTT we thought. Me and Al made idiots of ourselves in a dancing competition in front of everyone but won money off a trip up the east coast which we cant use but hey ho.
Was brilliant being reunited with our girls though and we started to joke drunkenly that we should change our travel plans and come with them up the east coast instead of making our way down as we had planned.......so........this morning we have booked new flights and were going back to Sydney on Sat to meet them and will be travelling once again with Mel and Laura yey!!! Its a bit of a faff in terms of flights but we all know we'll have loads more fun alltogether again as we were in NZ and they have missed us so much! So, instead of doing Sydney to Melbourne, fly to Cairns then make our way down the coast from Cairns to Brisbane and Fly out of there, we have done Sydney to Melbourne, fly back to Sydney, make our way UP the coast to Cairns then fly back to Brisbane to get our flight home. Parents we know it sounds silly but we will once again have a massive of 5 and means we wont have to share dorms with too many randoms and we can try and gather some more travellers and have a giant group again like in New Zealand yey!!!
Gonna stay in Melbourne until Saturday, the town were in, St Kilda is randomly full of delux cake shops that serve ridiculously fancy cakes, churos and melted chocolate which we sampled today mmmm, and there is a beach which we will investigate tommorrow. Hopefully going to see Penguins, kangaroos, walabees and crocs on Thursday on Philip Island and Miekes and Stu are gonna catch up with one of their favourite diving chums Jo so their super excited. Im off now to do some washing as I am now wearing my bikini coz ive run out of pants. On that note, farewell, love to all back home and be in touch soon with more pics and info.x x x
