Hello!!! Sorry about the lame updating of the blog, but Rach is here to save the day! Its not our fault were too busy having fun! haha. Well we are now on South Island so I will take you through the highlights of what weve been up to, theres been such a lot we cant remember it all! Went out for some cracking nights out in Wellington - St Paddies day and then had a big one for Mels birthday last Wednesday was an awesome night! We all felt sufficiently worse for wear the next morning and had to be on the coach at 7.15 in the morning after about 3 hours sleep to go get the ferry to South Island, yuk! Although we were cheered up by the food court inside and enjoyed yummy fry ups mmm! Scenery on teh way was stunning as we got to south island, this is after us all sleeping for about 2 hours!
Got on our next Kiwi coach and were taken to goess what.....a free wine tasting, just what we all wanted with hangovers! hahaha, me and Al got involved though, most tasty! And it would be rude not to we thought. Then arrived in Nelson and went out to a pub for a yummy tea for Mels proper birthday and had fush and chups. Stayed in a 20 bed dorm for the 2 nights we were there, an interesting experience! Al said it felt like we were camping in Westbourne Hall! Had a wonderfully lazy day at the hostel sunbathing and playing in the pool with our frisby then watched an extremely silly film that night that made us all wee hehehe, think we annoyed everyone else in the TV room haha. Picked up the next day at 8 am, yuk give us a lie in please! Met our new driver Smiley who were with the whole way down south island now, hes cool and has big teeth. Stopped at Nelson Lakes National park which was bootiful but also had our first experience of sandflies rubbish! Arrived in Westport and got a truly AMAZING drom room for our ever expanding clan, we now have 8 girlies (we have adopted Keebi, Kobi and Hobble as well) and our 2 boys still. Room had a bathroom, sofas, TV and a kitchen we never wanted to leave! So had a girly night drinking wine, face packs and watching a film, was so needed!
Next day stopped for a walk along the coast where we saw seals which were so cute! The next few days are a bit of a blur as Mieke has stolen Alexs diary away and thats the only record of when we have done stuff! I think we then arrived at Lake Manapupoo (cant spell) and a hostel with the Oldest barman in NZ, Les at 83 - what a legend! That night was the Poo party which everyone on Kiwi has, and its always fancy dress, problem was that it was easter sunday so no where was open for us to buy our fancy clothes so we had a binbag theme! Nice. Not wanting to let the side down though, us ladies had gone to the supermarket the day before and invested in fairy wands, glitter stickers and ribbons so went as binbag fairies, pictures to follow! Cool party and we looked wicked yey!
Another early start (dam you smiley!) and he took us to some weird bushman centre where we watched a vid about hunters catching deer when all we wanted to do was eat some greasy food! Ithink we then made our way along to Franz Josef where there is a massive glacier woo hoo! Dropped Mieke off to do a skydive (like thats the most normal thing in the world haha) and checked into our lovely hostel complete with hot spa pool mmmm. While Mieke was throwing herself out of a plane me and Alex went kayaking on a mirror lake which was beautiful but bloody hard work! Most random though as we could sea the glacier then a few minuted later we were in the rainforest, how cool is that?! Was really tough on our arms though ouchy but stunning as we were out for sunset ahh lovely. Got back and Mieke had cooked us our tea what a little trooper! Next day we did a full day hike up the glacier, the boys decided to go in the fast group as (and I quote) Marcus declared he would rather shoot himself in the eye rather than come in our girly gossip group! Rude! Mel and Laura could only afford the half day so it was me, Al, Mieke, Kobi, Keebi and Hobble (not real names). Stunning scenery and so glad we all did it, also pictures will follow. Mum and dad, it was like the Ayla books, so random!!
We are all a bit snuffly at the mo, ive got a horrid head cold that keeps moving around and most of us are full of snot but were not letting it stop us! This morning we set off bright and bloody early again and arrived into Wanaka at about 3.30. Its beautiful sunshine again, gorgeous town in the mountains with a huge lake, just stunning. Were off to have fush and chups for 5 dollars then an early night me thinks as tommorrow when we arrive in Queenstown is gonna be a big'un! We'l stay there for 4 nights, few people are doing bungees, and im gonna do either a paraglide or a handglide, havnt decided which yet......suggestions on a postcard please. Then its off to Christchurch for our last few days and then end of our Kiwi Experience boo hoo!! Not thinking of that now though, just want you all to know that were having the best time ever, literally the time of our lives! Laughing everyday with our friends and seeing amazing sights! New Zealand rocks!!!! Sorry if ive forgotten anything but hopw this gives you a fair idea of our travels. Will try put photos up when poss, loving you all!
