After a few road bumps, trip preparations are almost done. I will be pedalling around Morocco with my longtime, adventurous travel buddy Dal. We were co-workers, roommates and travel buds in Chile many moons ago. He was just crazy enough (in a good way of course) to join the trip on short notice. This will be his first bike tour but not likely his last...
I will be taking Sheila, the mountain bike this trip. This is the bike that I took to Australia. I expect that we will have some rough roads in the foothills of the High Atlas mountains and I want the flexibility to take the dirt roads when they look intriguing.
We have a few ideas of routes but will think harder on it during the long flight over. We fly in and out of Marrakech so will likely do a mix of riding through mountains and desert. With any luck we will reach the coast too but who knows.
Anyway, I still have to run out and try to find a different front rack for my bike so this post will be short. Hopefully we will get some internet cafes along the way so that I can update this blog and say hi to all of you.
NOTE - this blog is being updated many years later, the trip happened in 2009. Sadly Dal is no longer with us, but he lives on in my memories. This picture was taken in Chile where we first met, back in 1997
