Hey!
Quite a lot has happened since last time I wrote. We're now in Ubud and have been for a few days. Ubud is a lot more tropical than Kuta, it seems like we're in the middle of a jungle up here.
So anyway back to where we left off last time...sadly it turned out we missed the surf comp by a day and the pros had already moved onto Hawaii. Sad times. Padang Padang beach (near Ulu Watu) was amazing though, with clear blue waters and a nice surf break offshore. We stopped off in Jimbaran, a fishing village famous for having the best seafood in Bali, on our way home and I finally got to try lobster!
We spent our first night in Ubud in an extremely plush hotel complex in the middle of a jungle complete with waterfall, anyway it was too expensive so we soon moved on the next day to a place called Kori Inn run by a nice guy named Noyman. We embarked on a cycling tour on our first full day in Ubud, and OH MY GOD we mountain-biked around what felt like the whole of Bali, or maybe the world. It was well worth it though as we got to have breakfast on a volcanoe crater, visit a Blinese coffee plantation, cycle through countless rice paddies and visit the monkey jungle (which I loved!). Menna and I were the only two girls who managed to complete the 35Km on our bikes, so we were very proud of ourselves even if we did look minging by the end of it!
Tonight we plan on heading to a Jazz Cafe here in Ubud. We'll be leaving in a couple of days' time to head back for some more surf in Kuta.
Nice to hear from you all in your e-mails. Will write again soon.
