Good evening, just checking emails and sending blog from the Manderin Restaurant in Hue, pronounced Way.
Got up, checked out and had some breakfast this morning then set off to find the bus station. Walked for a while and found nothing so asked some people and thought we had gone too far, but eventually found a teacher (as we later found out) and he phoned the company (without being asked to!) and directed us to where we wanted to be. Turns out we needed to be at the office where the ticket we had was issued, found it... we had walked past it at least 4 times while we had been in Hoi An!! Nevermind, we got there in the end, then we left out rucksacks with the office and didnt have to be back while 1.15. Had a walk to the river, now bathed in sunshine just to taunt us! We sat in a cafe on the front and had an ice tea and a bit of a sunbathe until it was time to go back. Bought some water and pringles for the trip on the way and the bus soon turned up outside the office.
The bus wasnt too bad. Bit bumpy and a bit of an erratic driver. Was an interesting journey, saw lots of water buffalo and poorer towns and some very large and ornate buildings and finally arrived in Hue 4 hours later. Got off and were hounded to stay at the hotels around, but just walked for 10 mins down the road to the Festival Hotel. Very good first impression, looks very swanky (thanks mum we have been looking forward to it since you said it looked lovely!) and it didnt disapoint. Gorgeous room, big and with 2 3/4 beds, bath/balcony and everything you would expect. Pool and even breakfast thrown in at this one again! Hoping for free internet too!
We watched the end of Titanic, it sucked us in (forgive the pun) and then we came looking for food. Ended up here at the Manderin and i had Chicken Fried Rice and Claire had the same today. Was very thirsty so just had water. Claire is working her way through beers of Asia, todays was Festival, very appropriate!
Heading back to the lovely hotel now, the beds are just as gard, but the pillows are fluffy so hopefully a good nights sleep will be in order without waking up with a stiff neck! Busy day tomorrow as we only have one full day here, we leave on Tuesday at 15.55, got our tickets this morning.
Bye for now, i know its cold there, hpe you are all wrapped up warm and just think about us in Russia! XX
