Up at 3.00 for trip to Venice. These early morning flights are killing me. Went to first aid in Amsterdam airport to try to get something to stop me throwing up and get sonething for this wretched throat. Arrived in Venice at 2.00. Thank goodness i had arranged for someone to pick me up. Who knew there was a back way out of the train station without pushing through everyone and doing the stairs!! Arrived at Hotel Abbazia dropped my bags, downed a quick spagetti and Becks beer and headed for the Jewish Ghetto. Booked trip for museum and synagogues. Amazing!! So very glad i have been privileged to see so much in Venice. Staggered back to the hotel in the blazing heat got to the room stripped off and slept till 7.00. Had a much deserved shower and went to the nearest restaurant for tea. OMG food was bloody amazing! But i digress. First i must tell you about the owner. So gorgeous to look at with eyes that concentrated only on you. Bella Senorita he said you are a most beautiful woman, come in and i................. yep by this time i had forgotten that i had no makeup on and looked every bit of my 69 years! I was just a grease spot melting on the cobblestones. Ordered Spagetti with Lobster and a bottle of Chardonnay and settled in and watched him at work. Boy is he a professional! He headed for the young girls and of course, like the pied piper, they followed him into the restaurant. Anyway ordered an Affrogato afterwards. The whole meal was amazing. Thought my previous spagetti lobster was amazing but this one was incredible and the Affrogato (venician style) was incredible. Praised the cook and received a free glass of dessert wine and then he bought out a glass of Grappa for me to try. Wandered up that bloody bridge outside the train station to get some photoes and now it is time for bed before my morning for flight to Abu Dhabi.
