Picked up our hire car at midday on friday and set off on our road trip!!! Stopped off at Geelong first for some lunch and then headed down to the great ocean rd, visited the surfing town of Torquay and the famous bells beach where they have surfng championships. Next stop was at a place called Airleys Inlet where we saw the old lighthouse and did a coastal walk. Then went onto a seaside town called Lorne and went to the Teddy lookout which had lovely views of the ocean rd and the coast line. Then drove inland a bit to pretty little waterfull just north of Lorne in a rainforesty area, From there onto The oatway national Park and then to Part Campell National Park where we saw the 12 Apolstels in the picture, Lorc Ard gorge where a ship from scotland sunk. All around the area there is really interesting rock formations shaped in archways. Then to London Bridge which is a rock shaped like the bridge, then to the Bay of Islands which is loads of these rock shapes out in the sea, looks really strange but pretty as we got there when the sun was setting over it. After a long day we then headed to Warrnambool where we stayed in a really friendly cosy hostel. Had our own road and there was a huge tv and cofy sofas and really cheap nice wine! In the eve we headed into the town for an italian, there was a festival going on and it was packed! Had a band playing and lots of drunk locals was funny!! we looked a little out of place!
The next day we decieded to stay another night at booked horse riding on the beach in the afternoon. Was a bit cold but brill cantering through the sea. I rode a horse called Magestic, shell had Zeb, Jens was Hughie and Priyas was called Pokie!!Was a 2 hour ride and we were all a bit sore after!! In the afternnoon we made lasagne and watched a film. In the evening we went to Flagstaff Hill and saw a sound and light show called Shipwrecked, Was set over water with houses and boats and the lights come over the water, telling you the story of the Lorch Ard ship and about the two people that survived. Was really clever how it was done, sort of like was u get at universal studios it was like being there on set in the 1850's, all the rain coming down etc so felt like you were in the boat in the storm!
