Had lovely xmas day with tonia wade max luke and izzy. Tonia cooked a lovely traditioal english turkey even with brussells, christmas pud, wine and champers. Loved watching the kids opening their pressies and being here, felt just like at home!
On boxing day visted a shopping mall down the road for the sales. Bought some jeans for the cold weather at the mo! and sunglasses (broke mine) and a bag. In the afternoon Auntie Audrey, grandads cousin came over and we had australian xmas dinner, fresh prawns, crayfish, salmon, salad and dips. Cake and cheese and port for desert! Lovely again, we're being spoiled here with all the nice grub!
On the 27th we stopped off at the shops again and then went to Melbourne Zoo with Tonia and the kids. Was really brill day, saw all the animals!! Quiet evening after the busy day. Decided that i really want a pet koala and fariy penguin!!
On the 28th Tonia wade and the kids and us went out to the Yarra Valley. We visited Healsville wildlife park which was lovely saw all the ozzie animals, kangeroos, dingos which look like dogs, penguins, wallabees, tazmanian devils etc! In the afternoon we stopped off for some wine tasting in a winnery that had lovely views. My fav was the unoaked chardonnay, very nice! On the way back we drove through the Dandelong national park, beautiful huge tress and firns was impressive. In the eve we had dinner with the family and then tonia dropped us off at our hotel in south Yarra.
On the 29th we did our own city tour and visited the Fitxroy gardens, captain cooks cottage, the Old Goal musseum where Ned Kelly was hanged, Federation square and the shops!. Also wandered around South Yarra where we were staying, lovely place bit like kings road in London. Busy with designer shops cafes bars and restaurants... cud definately live there!
On the 30th we did a tour of the Great Ocean Road. Was really amazing, saw Bells beach famous for surfing, the 12 apostles, Loch arc gorge where a ship sank, london bridge, apollo bay... was brill day with fantasic views of the rock formations. In the eve we got cheap tickets to a show with a three course meal called Draculas. Was lovely food and a very funny show with singing dancing and comedy. You arrive into the place on a ghost train!!
On the 31st we visited the Crown Plaza and southgate on the river. Looked around all the shops and sorted out where were are goign for new years!! Ended up in an Irish bar called PJ O Briens. Was brill night, lovely bar with cool music and came out to see the fireworks over the river with the city in the background at 12!
New years day!!! As expected felt a little dodgy so went for some food at TGIs in South Yarra and then went to the cinema and saw the holiday. Loved the film and Jude Law is lovely...!!!
On the 2nd we did the neighbours tour in the morning!! Went to Erinsborough high which is a real school! Then onto Ramsey st which is also a real street where people live, they just let them film there! Was really random standing on Harolds driveway. Also met Libby Kennedy, Dr Karls daughter and got a photo with her...how very touristy! In the afternoon we went down to St Kilda beach. Walked along the pier and relaxed.
On the 3rd met up with Tonia and the kids and went back to St Kilda because it was roasting hot!! Had a really good lunch on the beach front. In the evening me n shells went for a few drinks in South Yarra to bid farewell to Melbourne.
