Last day of UK & Ireland Tour. Departed Plymouth driving through the midlands and Salisbury Plain and Stonehenge. Our trip to Cornwall today. First stop was St Michael's Mount, a castle fortress on an island just off the coast. Across the bay we could see Penzance and down to the south where Kelynack would be. Onto St Ives where we had lunch (cornish pasties) and a browse around the shops and the waterfront. Departed Cardiff for Plymouth but first stopped to visit Bath and Glastonbury. Early start this morning - drive from Waterford to Rosslare to catch the 8:45am ferry over to Wales. On the way we passed through New Ross where John F Kennedy was born. The streets were lined with banners with images of JFK. In June 1963 JFK returned to the nation of his forebears and his ancestral home in New Ross and the town has recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the event. A little sad as we depart Ireland. We left Glasgow for Manchester stopping first at the Glasgow Cathedral (under significant repair and refurbishment) and a tour around the Necropolis. We accidentally found the grave of William Miller - author of Wee Willie Winkie.
