COCKROACH WARS:-
After two nights of ferocious sweating and stressing out, the battle of denang came to a victorious end. It all started when I was woken by Jeni at 2230 on the the night of the 20th, before she was woken by a large cockroach, a dark dirty brown with 2 inch long antennas trying to pierce through a plastic bag which contained some ''Richeese Rolls'' (cheesy chocolate, cheese and Chocolate in a wafer stick, ''THOSE DIRTY b******S'' jeni's words) as I froze in terror looking at this beast from a distance and trying franticly to work a way of removing it from the room, Jeni moved the plastic bag and it scarpered....somewhere, but who knows where, after turning the room upside down and having no success in finding the little b******, for peace of mind we came to the conclusion that it must have crawled into jeni's backpack, both knowing full well that this was probably not the case and it was still at large on the room, so we locked the backpack, and the cockroach wasnt to be seen again that night and we went nervously back to sleep.
After coming home from a day out in Hoi An on the night of the 21st I decided out curiosity to check underneath the spare bed with the torch, and not to my surprise there was the cockroach staring straight back at me, sitting on one of the slats of the bed, now the fight was seriously on..... how could we get this creature out from under the bed and out of the front door....? Because neither of us wanted to sleep in the same room as this cockroach, after many failed attempts at pulling the bed out and banging the bed with a broom, Jeni put two and two together, and thought that all it wanted in the first place was the ''richeese rools'' so we put out some bait on the floor at the end of the bed with a bathroom tub ready to drop on top of the bait if it was to take it, I gave it a 40% of working, so we turned off the lights and watched a DVD for a couple of hours hoping that the cheese stick would attract it out, checking after the movie finished we was unsuccessful, so we basically gave up the fight and again very nervously, and sweating a lot, tried to sleep in what was now a living cell that we were sharing with this horror, we resided to the fact that we had been defeated...... until as if by a sign or coincidence I was woke by a noise which I couldn't explain, like keys falling on the bed, but there were no keys, so straight away I grabbed the torch, shined it on the bait and there was the cockroach who's appetite had got the better of him, gouging on the Richeese..... I'd woke Jeni by this time with panic an excitement rushing though my blood knowing that I only had one attempt to catch and remove it from the room by covering the whole area with the bath bowl, all of this in the dark, so majorly sweating at this point, slowly lowered the bowl above and the bait and the target, slamming it over swiftly and caught the cockroach, the relief was amazing, now just to slide the bowl out the door and down the walkway, Jeni, ready with the broom to sweep it as far away as possible from the door, I scooped the bowl out of the door with the cockroach inside as Jeni swept it across the floor towards the stairs, it was really panicking at this point and was trying very hard to fly away but didn't get the chance as it was swiftly swept to the bottom of the stairs. With a massive sense of achievement and relief we now able to fall asleep without the worry of a cockroach crawling over our faces, such an amazing feeling! We actually out witted the cockroach, if I would have known when buying the richeeses that this would happen I would've left them on the shelf, but it happened and we were victorious! I have a feeling this will not be the last cockroach we come face to face with, but next time, hopefully we'll be prepared.....or maybe not! Over and out!
