We started our journey down highway 1. Every night of the holiday so far we have pre booked rv parks, but for our 2 nights of highway 1, we have left it open so we can choose on the way where we stop for the night. We stopped at various view points of amazing views for pics etc of the coast and our first major stop was early afternoon in Monterey. This place was lovely. We took a walk along the pier before getting some lunch. This was the best thing. As were walking along, I could hear the sound of a seal bur not sure where it was coming from. We noticed a big platform out in the water with loads of elephant seals on it. This was spectacular. We walked right to the end of the pier and even managed to get a pic of the seals under the pier about 8ft away. We then for lunch in a really nice restaurant before heading back on the highway 1. We then drove very far, stopping for pics on the way. Every rv park we drove past were FULL but after leaving San francisco at roughly 11, we did not arrive at an available rv place untill 7.30pm. This was in San Simeon state park. After a long drive it was nice to stop and get some dinner and a few beers. We fancied buying a bit of fire wood before dinner so me and nick went down the hill along the stepped footpath to the little place to get some. If was given to us in a wheelbarrow and was told that the best way was to walk it round on the road the long way round to get it back to our rv spot. We both thought b***** that and we hiked up the set of 60 steps back uphill and at the top we were shattered. This steak on the barbie and a bottle of beer was gonna go down a treat when finished.
