The first day of our ROAD TRIP south to Melbourne, and boy is it going to be a quick trip - over 2000 kms to cover in 12 days! At least we've got a decent car, a Subaru Forrester 4WD thingy...much better than the Ford Laser we had in Albany!First stop, Glasshouse Mountains, a quick detour to the north of Brisbane. Wonderful scenery - it's great to see lush greens (more so than at the Gloucester Tree in WA) after so many weeks of parched landscapes.Our hostel is in Southport, just a few kms north of Surfer's Paradise - Surfers is famous for being a party town which, being old farts, want to avoid!! (The last time I was in Surfers I almost needed a new liver I drank so much)!The next day we went to Springbrook National Park - again some stunning scenery....and quite a bit of rain........
