What can one say about Death Valley other than it's HOT! DAMN HOT!
According to the temp gauge in our car, it peaked at 122°F (that's 50°C)!!
(It is officially the hottest place I have ever been to, ladies and gentlemen! So there)!
It is also rather windy, but instead of cooling things down, the wind simply makes things worse!
The only way to escape the heat (other than stay in your air-conditioned room or car) is to go up. So we did, to Dante's View where you can see both the highest and lowest points in the US. (By the way, it was still 92°F or 33°C up here, but it sure felt a LOT cooler)!
It would have been nice to see the famous 'moving rocks' but we ready needed a 4WD to get there and it wasn't recommended to go off the 'paved' roads at this time of year, so we'll have to save that for another trip.....like in winter perhaps!
(There were no American tourists here, only Europeans. For once, the Yanks are the sensible ones and only visit during the cooler months)!!!
