Well! I've been told now that we are most likely to be off to France on Friday if all goes well with those Chinese visas on Thursday.
I had a good few hours in London on Monday. Meet three of the chaps that will be on the motorbikes through China with us. Don't think they were very impressed by my presence, perhaps when they see my riding skills later in the trip they will be more impressed.
I did get taken to see a gold exhibition but then had to be put in the cloakroom while those two went off for a look about. Apparently it was quite interesting and had some great items on display. There was some gold embroided clothes worn by George 3th at his coronation. It was the most expensive coronation every held if converted into today's value.
A wide variety of gold cups made over many centuries, some gold coins a few of which were from the 100BC. Quite a few pieces found in archaeological finds the oldest being 2450BC, with several pieces from 2000 to 2200BC
There was some information on how the some things were made such as gold lace and embroidery thread. One troy oz of gold can be spun into a vast length of thread but Lyn can't remember just how much.
We came across St Mary Le Bow church the home of the Bow bells and boy they nearly deafened me, if that were possible as they tolled out across the area. The crypt dates from the 11th century though the current church was rebuilt after WW2, I had my photo taken a couple of times inside, once in the pulpit delivering my sermon and also alongside a bust of Captain Arthur Phillip, first Governor of New South Wales.
I enjoyed a few rides on the tube where a couple of small children liked the look of me. What's more it didn't rain so I didn't get wet.
I had made a friend up in Newport Pagnel, Trauma Teddy and he did consider coming with us on our trip but then decided he would rather go and live with some small kiddie so I guess I will just have to cope alone with these two humans.
Wish we luck
