BennyBeanBears Travels
Episode 1
From Burnett Heads to Brisbane, Singapore, Delhi and Arundel
4 th April 2012
Hi everyone my name is Benny Bean Bear and from now on will be referred to as BBB.
I began life as a pattern downloaded from the internet and I have an older brother that lives in Dysart Queensland. Since I was made I have been a couch potato living in Burnett Heads Queensland but one day I saw an open cabin bag and thought it would make a good resting place next think I knew I was zipped in and was travelling to Brisbane on the tilt train and stayed 1 night with 8 greyhounds as friends but next morning zipped back into case and stowed as cabin baggage on a jumbo heading to Singapore.
5th April 2012
The weather leaving Brisbane was becoming cloudy and cool but we didn't notice this as we were air conditioned in a Quantas 747 which I was not impressed with as compared with far eastern airlines the sevice and attitude of the staff was not up to the same standard also the seats were cramped and uncomfortable.( or so I was told)
On reaching Singapore at 7.30 at night we had just under 24 hrs before the next leg of the trip so I got dragged to the MRT (underground ) station where a card was purchased for travel into the center of the city where a bed was booked at the Green Kiwi backpackers hostel and we turned in for the night.
6th April 2012
Woke up the next morning and had breakfast and seing as we had a few hours to spend booked a trip on the Hippo and Duck tours.
The duck tour is a tour of the harbour in an Ex-Military DWUK which is capable of travelling on water as well as land.
Got a good view of the city from the harbour and a DNA bridge so named because of it double helix design. Also there are three towers that support a replica boat and a museum that is shaped like a Lotus flower, and a mermaid statue fountain on the shore.
All the buildings are new from what I remember of 25 yrs. ago apart from the Raffles Hotel. Also there3 is a floating stage and there is seating for 27000 overlooking it and a building that is meant to represent a durian fruit and although it is the fruit of Singapore it is banned in most hotels and public places as it smells a bit like rotting onions that have been left out in the sun for a few hours.
After the duck tour the clouds rolled in and within 5 mins of getting off the tour a tropical rainstorm hit and everything was soaked within seconds so it was lucky we were not on the next tour that was just leaving.
Went into the Sun Tec centre and into the food court and got some stir fried prawns with a very hot sauce but you could put that on yourself.
The rain began to ease off after an hour or so made our way back to Hostel and collected baggage and got the MRT back to airport and checked into the flight to Deli with Jet India airways ,Boarded flight and left at 8pm about ½ hr late .
The plane was an Airbus A 300 which was more comfortable than the Jumbo and arrived at 2200 which was about a 5 hr flight taking into account the time zones we went through.
7Th April 2012
Boarded a Boing 700 in Delhi and took off about 2 am for London for the final leg of this part of the trip Arrived at Heathrow about 7 am after a 9 hr flight and it must be the fastest we have ever been through customs and immigration as we were on the tube heading for Victoria station by 8am and got there well before 9 but it was very cool about 8c and trying to rain and had to wait 2 hrs before the train departed.
Got to Arundel at 12.30 where we were picked up and taken to Heathers where Derik and Trevor were there to greet us (two Cornish rex cats)
Will not be doing much travelling for the next few weeks as we have to get the Range Rover ready for a big Overland Trip.
