So after about a six hour ferry journey from Koh Lanta we arrived at the beautiful island of Koh Lipe, we decided to spend Christmas here as it sounded like a really nice place, almost too good to be true! We were originally going to go to Koh Phangan for Christmas as the Full Moon party was on the 24th December but it sounded like it was the worst time to go, as it was getting really packed and prices had doubled for accommodation etc. We are still going to the full moon party in March when my friend Amelia comes out.Anyway so when we arrived at the island we knew we had made the right decision as it looked amazing, white sand beaches and crystal clear sea and not a high rise hotel in sight! The Island has no pier and as it is so far south and takes a while by ferry to get there it has not been overdeveloped like some other islands which is really good! We stayed in a bungalow on Pooh's resort; The Thai guy that owned it coincidently named Pooh was really nice and friendly. We spent most of our time sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling, we saw some amazing fish, there were some really good corals so there were loads of fish compared to when we went snorkeling in Sri Lanka (the coral was dead there)On Christmas eve we had a nice meal at our resort and then headed to the beach to hit some of the bars. We stopped at a little bar that had some booming music, it wasn't very busy but was very Christmassy, I give them 10/10 for effort! So the music was playing and the booze was flowing and the place was suddenly packed with people or should I say the beach front was! We had some entertainment provided by two little Thai kids twisting some fire sticks, they we're pro's but you'd never see anything like it England, there was a little girl who was about 6 holding the lighter and lighting the ends of their sticks once they had doused them in petrol…slightly scary! Ben and I were on the Thai rum and we danced the night away with a mixture of Thai's and other travelers…The photos are quite amusing!Christmas day was strange, we spent it sunbathing on the beach, there was no sign of Christmas really, just the occasional person walking along the beach with a santa hat on. No Christmas dinner for us either, no where was doing one, we went to dinner with a couple of guys we had met the night before and I had stir fried vegetables and Ben had Prawns and noodles. No Champagne either just a bottle of cheap beer!!!! We did miss home on Christmas day it would have been nice to be with the family and have a traditional Christmas but were not complaining after all we were in paradise! We left paradise on the 27th December and headed for Malaysia as we were so close being in the deep south of Thailand……….to be continued!
