Day 24 and our last night of our honeymoon.... Journey from Turin to Lyon was largely uneventful (except an upsetting €37 toll at the Frejus tunnel on our way back to France - ouch!) Day 11 and we have a very long drive (after quite a lot of wine last night...) We say goodbye to Peter and Carcassonne and drive via route national (rather than the toll roads) to Sete for moules-frites in the beautiful port. Still with 300km to go we hit the toll roads. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful countryside and mountains on our way to the Cote D'Azur (which was much better than the traffic jam we were sat in on the RN...) Several hours later...

Early start... Well 9... ish! Anyway Jen had sorted out bike hire yesterday so we headed out to pick them up Our plans for the day revolved around a trip out to a nearby lake. This, of course, provided the perfect opportunity for a picnic lunch and therefore a visit to the farmers market for supplies. Day 9 (already!): Leisurely start to the day with a lazy breakfast in our gorgeous apartment before a stroll around Carcassonne and up to La Cité, Carcassonne's medieval fortress. Most of the new town where we're staying was closed (being a Monday, good ol' France) but La Cité was absolutely heaving with tourists (urgh!) So, day 8... Already a whole week away and a whole week married... so far so good!! We very sadly had to say goodbye to fabulous San Sebastian which we enjoyed very much, largely thanks to Sara, our host and expert tour guide. After a quick debate over which route to take, sense prevailed and we went for the autoroute (the alternative being a 7.5 hour journey through the pyrenees).
