When we first arrived in Ecuador, we struggled to see it as anything more than just another South American country. However, with only a week to go were really starting to enjoy the uniqueness of the place. After a few days in Guayaquil, we travelled out to Montañita for some much needed sun. We found a wooden shack overlooking the beach and enjoyed 3-days of sun, surf, fresh fruit and cocktails! Day 1 Around 5.20h we get picked up from the hostel and brought to the bus by employees of SAS Adventure Travels, where we little by little meet the 12 other group members. Dag 1, afstand 16 km, hoogte 2380 - 3200 m. Om 5.20 uur worden we bij ons Bright Hostel opgehaald met het SAS-busje. Vanaf het zo goed als Westerse vliegveld van Iquitos verandert het uitzicht vanuit de hevig rammelende taxi (S/. 10, zeg maar € 3) langzaam van plattelands Frankrijk naar volbloed Afrikaans in het centrum. Het is markt (zoals iedere dag) en het wordt carnaval, dat ze hier hevig vieren.
