Today, the day of Shane 'moose' Wilkes birthday we woke up to the amazing view of the sunrising through silhouetted trees. Hana didn't have the best night sleep and mine wasn't amazing either but we dragged ourselves onto the beach to watch the sunrise at around 6:45. The sunrise was lush and our captain was soon parked up on the beach just up the shore - we grabbed our stuff and made our way back on to the boat to watch the rest of the sunrise.
We were now heading to maya bay, a quick stop for captain to get fuel and we were crashing through the rough sea towards phi phi leh. We arrived at maya bay just before it got massively busy, I can see why it was chosen for 'the beach' and unfortunately due to its film made fame it is now slightly spoiled by hoards of people doing why can only be described as a mass bikini shoot! However the soft white sand, turquoise water and amazing cliff formation still looks amazing and the strange positions made by other tourists provided great entertainment for us all!
From here we travelled past Viking cave, which you can only view from the outside from the boat, we made our way to a couple of other bays and lagoons all as impressive if not more than maya bay. Me and Shane swam
And the girls sat on the boat, the water was amazingly clear, warm and with the giant cliffs almost surrounding you, it's an experience I will never forget. At the second lagoon we went snorkelling where there were hundreds of fish, small ones and big ones they surrounded us without a care which meant you were face to face with them another unforgettable experience. Finally we finished off back on the main island on monkey beach, which funnily enough had wild monkeys that live on the beach and are now almost tame due to tourism. This meant you can literally sit next to them and I even held hands with a baby one. Unfortunately this was the end of our trip and we got off the boat around 11 in the morning. We grabbed some food and headed back for another chill and swim. During the afternoon me and Lauren snuck off and went running around town to sort a cake for Shane's birthday meal tonight. We found a place that said they could make us one within an hour so we went off and I sorted uploading some photos. We then took the cake and candles to the restaurant we have had dinner in nearly every night, so they happily agreed to bring it out for us.
Some more chilling and swimming and it was time for the meal - again lovely food and they even played a. Jet g'day song and gave Shane a free shot! From here we walked back to the room and bought a bucket on the way, a few games of sevens and a bucket later we were getting ready to head into town.
Tonight we went to 'the reggae bar' where they put on live Thai boxing fights and also invite anyone to do three rounds for a free bucket. There were some funny fights and some quite brutal but good night, lots of buckers ad we made our way to a small quieter bar for a spacer drink. We then went to 'beach bar' which we imagined to be a small quieter bar - we were wrong. As you turn the corner it instantly reminded me of 'the rock bar' at full moon. Fire shows and heavy dance filled the air, we all went from wanting a chill to being back at full moon. More buckets and a lot of dancing finished the night off and what I can only describe as Proberly the best birthdays ever!
