We arrived quite late in Penang and were greeted by a truly wonderful storm...welcome to Malaysia! Having grabbed some food we called in an early night as we only had the following day to explore the City. We caught a local bus to visit Kek Lok Si Temple which is the largest Buddhist temple complex in Malaysia. Once again we were caught up in a storm and had the chance to wear our beautiful mac in a pac! The temple itself was very pretty and provided great views ...

So after a pleasant ferry ride we arrived at Ko Lanta and got a taxi to a hotel we had read about. It seemed strangely deserted, with not many guests, but we were offered a cheaper price and couldn't complain! The swimming pool overlooked the beach which was nice and very long. We were somewhat surprised at how quiet everything was, we knew that the low season prices were about to start, (and on our first afternoon there was a huge storm, which showed the weather...

So, the bus to Ko Phi Phi began at 6 pm (though by the time we actually got out of Bangkok it was 8...same old story) and we were due to arrive on Ko Phi Phi at 12pm the next day. Overnight bit was fine, depite our aircon not working. Watched a film and managed to get quite a bit of sleep. However, we arrived at a random tour office at about 7.30am to be told our next bus would leave at 10. It turns out that we never would have got to Ko PP at 12, and they wanted...

Right, as Ben has whizzed through getting us more up to date, I'll try and get a few more places done. From Kanchanaburi we got a minibus back to Bangkok to meet Kat (my little sister), her boyfriend Gareth and their friend Nush as they arrived to start their travelling. The journey was quite frustrating, slow to get started due to the usual dropping off of parcels, picking up locals etc...We then found that the minibus was prone to stalling when stopped at traff...

We arrived in Kanchanaburi early in the morning and went to find a guest house. We stayed in a very small bamboo hut over looking the river that came with its on Gecko and toad! Although it was rather compact it would be fine for a couple of nights. Kanchanburi is home to the Bridge over the River Kwai which was spectacular everytime we looked at it.
