We arrived at Brisbane in the early evening and headed off to our hostel. On arriving we were told that there had been a fire the previous evening and that our room was unavailable. Instead they would be moving us to their sister hostel and we would be able to have a double room - good compromise! We arrived in Noosa mid afternoon after a short journey from Hervey Bay. We checked into the YHA which was situated in a charming colonial looking building. That afternoon we wandered around Noosa and quickly realised that it was a quaint sea side resort for the more wealthy holiday-maker. Next in our schedule of "must do" activities was a 3 day trip to Fraser Island, leaving from the town of Hervey Bay. Not many people seem to bother visiting the tiny town of 1770, but having been told how cool it was we decided to stop and stay in the not much bigger town of Agnes Water next to it. We hopped in a minibus which took us round 1770 and had some lunch before deciding to try and walk back to our hostel. So, from Cairns we headed South to the town of Airlie Beach, ready to do our trip to the Whitsunday Islands the next day. Airlie Beach is a nice town, full of backpackers either waiting to go on a boat trip or just returning from one.
