We arrived in Noosa mid afternoon after a short journey from Hervey Bay. We checked into the YHA which was situated in a charming colonial looking building. That afternoon we wandered around Noosa and quickly realised that it was a quaint sea side resort for the more wealthy holiday-maker. The streets were aligned with vintage clothe stores, expensive restaurants and plenty of fancy coffee shops. Noosa also had a lovely little beach which we relaxed on whilst watching the sun set that evening. In the evening we went out for some dinner with a couple of friends where Lucy and Vicky were presented with child's size apple juice after ordering their drinks. We ate our food and listened to a musician and had an early night as we felt pretty hung-over following the previous evenings Fraser Island after party.
The next day we caught the bus to Australia Zoo, home of the late Steve Irwin. The Zoo was good, if not slightly over expensive and commercialised. We saw Terri Irwin and Bindi signing autographs, fed some elephants and had our picture taken with a koala. The koalas were the highlight of the zoo and were the beginning of the many more that we would see down the East Coast. In the evening we ate Fish and Chips at the guesthouse, had a few drinks and Lucy lost at a few more games of cards.
On our final day in Noosa we visited the National Park and went on a lengthy walk. We followed the boardwalk along the coast which was very scenic and provided great views of the ocean and surrounding bays. We walked a good few kilometres to a spectacular beach called Alexandria Bay. We caught the sunshine for a while until we realised that we were actually sitting on a nudist beach! Although we were keen to shed our clothes and join the scandinavian wrinkles' we decided to head back to Noosa!
Our trip in Noosa was short but very enjoyable. The weather was still warm and sunny and we could have easily stayed there for a few more days. Instead we boarded a bus that afternoon and headed down the coast to Brisbane.
