Today we headed back to the west coast to Sorrento, and although our sat nav led us on a wild goose chase through all sorts of dodgy areas (including modern Pompeii which is a bit of a hole) we still got there early enough to leave our van at a campsite and hop into mum and dad's car and drive along the Amalfi Coast. The coastline is absolutely stunning and it was a great drive, despite Rita in the back seat having mini heart attacks every few seconds because the roads were so tight and windy! We drove through Positano and were heading to Amalfi when we thought we had better stop for some lunch as it was around 4pm.We stopped at a restaurant that had a pottery store attached. When we walked into the restaurant we realised it was closed because of siesta time, but the manager said it was not a problem that she would fix us some lunch, and we had some bread rolls, bocconcini, tomatoes, salami, artichokes and olives, with some ice-cream to follow. It was a basic lunch but we were really grateful that they allowed us to stay…until we got the bill which set dad back a whopping 80 Euros! Ouch! So that was the last time we ever entered a café or shop during siesta! That night, back at the campsite, we spent most of the night playing with the owners pet kitten, which we named Fabio. He was such a cute kitten, really playful, he loved pouncing for our towels hanging from the line and swing on them!
The next day we spent on the island of Capri. Our first stop was visiting the Grotta Azzurra(Blue grotto), which we reached by boat, then had to climb onto a tiny row boat, while they take you underneath and sing to you inside the grotto! It was so blue it was glowing (the only way to describe it, is that it looked exactly like blue powerade!) and some people were getting of the boats and going for a quick swim. When we were back on the island, Ben and Bek went to the beach for a quick dip then met up with her parents for a quick beer before heading back over to Sorrento.
