Well so far the Czech Republic has not disappointed! Its a truly beautiful region of Europe.
Cesky Krumlov, in my opinion it one of its hidden treasures!! Usually just brushed aside as a day trip this place isn't that packed with tourists and usually the city stops around 10pm - so if you're after a party town I suggest you skip this one. Cesky only has a population of around 15,000 so you can expect its not big. A 5 minute walk Max from one side of town to the other. I loved it!
Surrounded by the Vltava River there's a lot of rafting in the town. Your hostel even runs a "pub crawl" by raft. Yes, I went on it, and yes I injured myself. Turns out you're not meant to get our of the raft in the river because its shallow and pocked with razor sharp rocks :-)
But please don't let that discourage you, Cesky has horse back riding, and a medieval castle which has the most stunning views if the town. Oh and there's bears in the moat! Yep, two grizzly bears!
Now I should probably provide some explanation to the photo I uploaded. This was on our first night in Cesky. The Canadians and the Aussies went to this little bistro by the river, got some beers and a meat platter each. Everyone had chicken, I had pheasant! A little dry but oh well. It was a great evening, the weather was kerbed, the atmosphere was perfect and the location was perfect. Just sitting there with friends, sharing a beer or glass of vino, listening to the sound of the river running of the stones.
After dinner we headed back to the hostel for some vino and ended up watching a movie on the telly and hard drive provided.
If you're ever in the Czech Republic, please dint be one of those people who overlook this little own. Take three days at least, from the hustle and bustle of the city!
