Today we went on a big bus trip.
First off we went to the town of Pisa.
There was a marble tower there that looked like it was going to fall over.
I tried to push it up.
It was a fun place.
There wasn't much else in Pisa.
Next we went to a town called San Gimignano.
We had lunch at a Tuscan vineyard.
We had bread with olive oil, soft Sheeps cheese with mushrooms, soft cheese with radish and then some spiral pasta with homemade tomato sauce.
We had cornflake cookies for desert.
Mum and dad had some wine called 'Vino' in Italy.
'Bianco' is the white wine and 'Chianti' is the red wine.
They make a lot of wine in Tuscany.
Next we drove to what looked like a big castle.
We had to park the bus at the bottom of a hill and walk up to the town.
It was very steep and we were all tired at the top.
The town had lots of towers, a Plaza, church and alley ways. It was very beautiful and also very old. It looked like a movie set.
Next we went Siena. We had to park the bus and walk in again. It took about 10 minutes. Siena was pretty. The best thing there was the town Plaza where they had a huge horse race every year with 17 riders making 3 laps of the square. If the rider falls off the horse can still win if it runs by itself to the finish line! The race is pretty dangerous and on some of the corners they put crash mats!
In Siena we also saw another church. This one was boring for me but still the most beautiful one I had seen yet. There was lots and lots of carved marble and lots of paintings inside. When people in the church got too noisy a recorded voice came on saying 'sssshhhhh Silencio'.
I noticed there were a lot of Wooden toys of "Pinocchio". The story came from the Tuscan region.
We had a good but tiring day.
Tomorrow we catch a fast train to Rome then a taxi to a town called Civitavecchia where we will board the cruise ship. I am excited about that.
