Today we went to the Greek Island of Santorini. The island are made up of volcanic rock. We caught a ferry from our big cruise ship to the port of Fira. Next, we had to get on a cable car to get to the top of the mountain where the town is. On the way up you can see some remnants if old buildings on the side of the cliffs. You can also walk up 584 stairs or catch a donkey but we were told the donkeys like to scrap up against the rock wall so you can get hurt.
Once we got on the cable car it only took about 5 minutes and we were at the top. We walked around and saw lots of white buildings on the side of the mountain. We then ate some traditional Greek foods (well, mum and dad did) like vine leaves stuffed with rice, tomato fritters, fennel fritters, tzatziki (yoghurt and cucumber) and fried cheese balls.
The weather was a bit cold and also very windy. Mum had trouble holding the camera to take photos in the wind.
My favourite things in Santorini were the cable car ride and the beautiful view. Also, mum says that the Lost City of Atlantis was once here in Santorini until it fell into the ocean.
