Hey!
On Saturday we were still in Brisbane so we visited Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's zoo) to check out some big boy crocs! We hand fed kangaroos, held a koala and saw a really interactive show with birds, snakes and crocs. We saw some gorgeous tigers aswell, right up close! When we got back to our hostel, we decided to make the most of the night and head down to South Bank river and have our first meal out at a vietnamese restaurant which was tasty and have a stroll along the promenade to see some of Brisbane's main attractions all lit up at night.
Then is chucked it down with rain, thunder & lightning all night......apparently, the most rain brisbane has had in 9 months!!!!!
On Sunday we had our Moreton Island trip which we were thinking wasn't looking too hopefull, but it went ahead and was pretty good weather off the mainland. We did sand taboggoning down a big desert sand dune, saw turtles from the island's lighthouse lookout, swam in a big natural lagoon and enjoyed a picnic lunch on the beach as well as admiring the 15 purpose sunken shiprecks which calm the sea.
Today we went shopping in Brisbane first thing......Steve bought a Guess shirt and Becs couldn't resist yet another Guess handbag in the sales!!! We caught our greyhound coach to Surfers Paradise and checked into our hostel about 3pm. It's in such a great location, we're right next to the coach station, a 5 min walk to the shopping mall and beach, and right by the famous Q-Deck building which we went up at sunset for fantastic views of the city and coastline. Plus we have access to a pool, spa and we even had our first BBQ tonight on the decking which was much needed!!!
Tomorrow we're having a surfing lesson which guarantees your money back if you don't stand up.....so Becs will get her money back no doubt!
credit is running out now so we'll let you know how we get on!
xx
