Next stop was Kaiteriteri.
We had quite a long day on the bus as we had to stop in Picton to colledt poeple from the boat that had been on the south island ( although they are long days, we stop all the time for short walks, food stops and plenty of photo stops). When it came to our lunch stop we were in a place called the Marlboro region which is famous for its wine and vineyards. It was a nice suprise that we got to do some wine tasting for only $2 which was great. We had four wines and they would explain a little baout it, James of course was not impressed. One of the wines was described as having a creamy buttery flavour to it, James was swirling it around his mouth expecting to get hints of lurpack and flora. We have decided it must be an age thing as he hates most wines.
There was also a shop selling the yummiest dips and oils and dressings, all really unusual and homemade. There were plenty of testers so I made sure I went in a few times. Back on the bus Gareth had bought more wine so we had our own little wine tasting on the bus,
Kaiteriteri is the smallest town with a campsite, hotel, cafe and 1 shop so not much to do here also. We had planned a kayaking trip for the following morning but the forecast wasn't very good. We went for a walk over the cliff and round to the little beach before heading back.
Outside our hostel was a caravan selling fish and chips so we demmolished too of the biggest portions of fish and chips I have ever seen.
That night was pretty chilled and the light in our room didnt work so everyone fell asleep by about 9pm.
The follwoing morning the sun was shining so we headed to the beacj and got a coffee in one of the cafes before it was time to be back on the bus.
