Becky Bravo's Adventures
After quite the night of partying last evening, it was not too easy to get up early this morning for our ziplining adventure, but it was SO worth it!! We got picked up at about 9 am this morning and headed off to our rainforest adventure!
It was a lot of hiking and driving atop very steep hills to get to our adventure, and the first zipline was very scary. You really wouldn't think one of those little lines could handle so much weight and wear and tear. But we all made it through very safely. And after the first zipline, the other ones just became fun. There had to have been at least 15 or so of them and the longest one was 800 meters long!! SO MUCH FUN!! We also had to rappel down some very high up places, and that was a liiiiitle uncomfortable, but still awesome.
On some of the lines, our guides would shake it or sway us back and forth before pushing us off of our platform, so there we were, just swaying back and forth at high speeds through the rainforest. Whatever. I do it all the time.
This adventure was actually featured on the television show Amazing Race, (I think maybe season 3?) and is advertised as being the best attraction in Thailand. Other than the awesome house we just built, I would have the say the Flight of the Gibbons (thats what the ziplining tour is called) is totally deserving of that title. At least from what I have seen.
And speaking of Gibbons, it is actually called that because that is the Gibbon's habitat, and we totally got to see some! They were so cute! But we had strict instructions to stay far from them as I guess they are aggressive.
Included are some pics from our rainforest adventure, however it was not so easy to get too many of the ziplining in motion (for obvious reasons) So if you wish to get a better idea of the details of what we did, here is the website: http://www.treetopasia.com/thailand-hol iday/chiang-mai/
Or, you can watch a youtube clip from the Amazing Race episode.
And we ended the day by having one last dinner with the group. Again, it got emotional, and Khem even got everybody handmade scarves as a Bon Voyage present! It was awesome.
So now tomorrow I go back to reality. I think it will be a major adjustment for me. I mean, I don't even know what I am going to do without my homemade Thai snacks everyday and having my food ordered and ready for me any time I go to a restaurant, as well as having it paid for. We were all sooooo spoiled on this trip. And even though our workdays were sweaty and hot, and caused aching bodies, our mornings were early, and most days were long, this was the most amazing experience I have ever had, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
I will be flying from Chiang Mai to Bankok, Bankok to Seoul, Korea, and then finally homesies to LAX. Thats only you know, like 24 hours of planes and airports, so wish me luck, see most of you soon, and I will post one final blog with reflections and a complete set of pics of the progress of the house from beginning to end.
Thank you to all of you who have been keeping up with my blogs! I receive your comments and feels good to know you all at home have been 'with' me through all of this. What did we ever do without the internet?
