I arrived in Thailand all good and safe. Now our build doesn't start until tomorrow, so today I had the chance to explore the city. Our hotel is in a fabulous location very close to tons of shops, restaurants, and tons of taxi drivers willing to take you anywhere you would like, for very cheap. A few people from my Habitat group were already here, so we walked around the city for a bit.
I then got a Thai massage - which for one hour costed me about 9 US dollars. (and that was expensive for here!, I found out there are places that offer the same thing for much less, but it was worth it) This felt sooooo good after my long and torturous plane ride.
Everybody in my group met up for dinner and orientation and I am so excited to be working with these people! We have two people from Canada, one of the guys is from Venezuala, we have an Australian, a local from here in Chiang Mai, and the rest of us are from the States. There are 12 of us altogether. And everybody seems so cool.
Our contact here in Thailand - her name is Melini - gave us the low down on what we will be doing each day on the job site, and we sure have some crazy hard work to do! But I am very excited to get my hands dirty and get to building!!

Auntie Mel Thanks so much for the interesting update! Just in the short time you have been there, you have had fantastic experiences. She must be nice since her name is MELini. Love the photos! If those animals had been elephants I would be very jealous. I know you’ll be super busy - but keep the blogs/pics coming. Much love and prayers, Melody.
