Becky Bravo's Adventures
My day started early once again, though not as bad. Our taxi driver came and picked us up at 8:30 and we began our long drive around Cape Town. It was just me, Ellie, and Ally. It was a lot of driving and a busy day, but it was so beautiful and fun! We started by going to this little ferry that took us to Seal Island. It was a cheap and short little boat trip, but so cool! There is this island that is just covered in seals! They were so cute! Very stinky, but very cute! We never got off the boat, just got to look at it, but it was awesome. Then we drove up Chapman's Peak and there was just some lookout points. The picture of the three of us posing with our hands up was the lookout point. The little island that is to the very left (next to Ellie - with the dark hair) is actually Seal Island. So it was very cool to be there on the water then drive up and see that amazing view. Then we went to an Ostrich Farm. We didn't take a tour or anything but just got out and looked at them. Our taxi driver like knew everything so he just told us some stuff. Sadly the farms are mainly for raising the ostriches for meat. Ostrich meat is pretty popular down here. But there is a picture of me lookin at the ostrich. They are so weird looking! They have like dinosaur feet and a snake neck and fluffy feathers. And they were always flappin their mouths. I was kinda scared it was gonna snap at me, that's why I'm looking at the ostrich and not the camera in that picture. Then we went to the Cape of Good Hope - the most southwestern point of Africa. That was very pretty. No stories there really, just beautiful pictures. Then we went to Cape Point and hiked up the hills a little bit and that was cool. Baboons just kind of run around up there just like say a squirrel would in some places in the states. But they are so mean! They come up and take your food and one even went in somebody's car and stole their bag of food and ate it! They post signs about them, which I thought was pretty funny so I included a picture of that. And of a baboon. They just look angry. It was beautiful at the top, but so windy! There is a picture of me and Ally and you can tell by my hair just how crazy the wind was! Then we went to eat at this super nice seafood restaurant on Boulders Beach. Luckily they had veggie spring rolls for me, so that was good. After the restaurant, we walked up to where the penguins were. And no joke, the penguins just chill there. And you can get so close to them! They are so cute! I wanted to touch them, but as the sign in the picture shows, you are not supposed to. They snap at you. But we saw so many! And baby penguins too! It was awesome. No offense to the zoos, but this was so much better than seeing them there! After that we went to one of the Winelands and did some wine tasting and ate some cheese. That was a lot of fun. I usually am not a big fan of wine (still kinda am not) but I did find 2 kinds that I really enjoyed. Plus, anything with cheese and crackers is always fun. Then we got dropped back off by the ship. We made some phone calls home since it was our last night in port and had to board the ship. I took a picture of our ship docked there in Cape Town. Seriously, getting back on the ship from this port was so sad. I really did not want to leave. I am not kidding when I say I am DEFINITELY coming back here someday. The people are so nice, it is so beautiful, there is just nothing like it. We have 6 days at sea before we hit Mauritius. I am pretty excited about that port, I hear its kinda like a spring break type of place, just very beach-y and fun. I don't think I will learn as much there, but you never know. I had no idea what South Africa had in store for me, and I didn't want to leave! I will probably update a few times before Mauritius, but if not, we arrive there on Thursday. So keep an eye out for more blogs then.
