Becky Bravo's Adventures
March 27 This day of the homestay was not spent with the family, all 29 of the students on the homestay went on a trip to Mamallapuram (I am sure I just butchered that spelling) to see temples and the rock carvings, etc. it was a very long and hot day, but very fun. We ate at this incredible restaurant. I included a picture of the food, and me eating it. I just gotta say this whole eating with your hands thing is so fun! I think that is a custom we should adopt back in the states. Then there is a picture of me by some of the carvings, and of me and K-Lee and Ally by the big rock. I don't know what the name of any of this stuff was, but that huge rock just like balances on the hill. It is crazy. We got back with our host families in the evening and they again took us out to dinner, and the food was again amazing. All the restaurants we went to were incredible, but serisouly, Prabha's food that she cooked for us was even better. I bought some Indian cookbooks, and she circled all the stuff she made and all the stuff I should try. So all you people who live in Cali, you gotta come over and I will cook some Indian food! (just a forewarning, I can't cook regular food that well, so who knows how well I will cook this stuff, but I am definitely going to try.) After dinner, we came back to the apartment and watched a Bollywood movie - one of Neeru's favorites. I don't remember what it was called, but it had a lot of music and dancing, and it was pretty good. Prabha and Neeru translated for me and Tyler. Then they let us check our e-mail (they use computers so much here. Neeru described her brother as a computer geek.) and then we went to bed. I felt so at home with the Bhandaris, after only two days I knew I was going to miss them like crazy.
