Next stop...Cairns. I actually arrived at silly o clock in the morning and after only four hours sleep the night before, I got only another 3 the next night as we were up to go to the rainforest! It was totally worth it! Apparently if you only have one night in cairns this is the thing to do. It was awesome! It took us about 3 hours to get up there. We spent our time up there walking through some of the gorgeous rainforest, bombing it down the rapids in a beautiful gorge..getting called crazy girls! Next it was a river cruise in a croc infested river...yep that means 6m crocs and yes there has been a recent attack and our guide told us that there would be another one very soon considering all the stupid things people do on the river! But we all came out alive. Also apparently there are sharks and rays in there too! Food was next on the agenda when our guide took us for some bushtucker...aka lemon tasting ants! That meant getting to hold an ant by its head and licking it's butt! It was actually surprisingly tasty. We also got to try some really good homemade icecream made from the seasonal fruit...like the wattleseed which tastes like cappucino. Last stop was the gorgeous cape trib beach.
We only had one full day in Cairns, so we spent our last night there swimming in the amazing outdoor pool which is smack bang in the middle of the city and looking at all the crazy souvenirs at the night market. We also bid our farewells to quite a few people from here before heading back to Sydney.
The night before we flew from Sydney to Cairns, Mike (who we met scuba diving in Thailand) was really sweet and put us up for the night. His family were lovely and his mum even had a hot meal on the table when we got in. And then drove us to the airport at 6am to catch our flight to Sydney.
So yeh now we are now in New zealand.....YEEEEHAAHH! Bring on the extreme sports...Im totally gona turn into an adrenaline junky out here and I know Im gonna love it!
