This is actually a blog for Airlie Beach - for some reason this site is under the impression that neither Airlie beach or Whitsundays exist so I've had to use the wrong name! :) Anyways...
Said goodbye to Lauren, Jo and Dan at Townsville as they're travelling on the Greyhound buses and agreed to meet them in Airlie. We beat them there so checked us all into a 10bed drom at Magnums backpackers. I can't for the life of me remember who oue driver was but we did go past a giant mango on the way - another item to add to the weineys big things album!
Our room was huge but very basic but we have the whole room for just us 5 which was brilliant. A game of goon ring of fire filled our evening as we got ready to go out. We had a really good night only ruined slightly by a few alcohol caused rows between various people, but it was eventful and so nice to all get dressed up and go out properly! We spent our second day nursing hangovers by chilling out at the lagoon and then went off to book out Whitsunday trip later that day. We ended up booking Anaconda 3 for a 3day/3night trip leaving the following day. It was a bit more expensive than any of us had budgeted for but it looked amazing and we decided it would be well worth it.
1st September, Happy Birthday Simon yaay! and finally we were off to the Whitsundays, what a way to spend his birthday! We'll put our Whitsunday adventure on a different blog as I have a feeling it might be quite long!
Arrived back to Airlie on September 4th with definate seamans legs! the whole place was rocking! Sitting down was even worse, it was a very strange feeling! We had our boat night out with everyone from the trip and a couple of the crew meetingup for dinner and drinks at one of the many bars in Airlie. The bar was ok but dinner was wicked! Dominos delivered to the bar, cant beat that!
Headed to the lagoon the following day for a yummy bbq cooked by Simon. It was our last day with the 3 guys as Jo and Lauren are running out of time and money and need to move on straight away whereas me and Simon have so much time, we decided to hang around in Airlie and try and save some money back up. We walked up to the bus stop and said our goodbyes, Lauren lives in Tonbridge so no doubt we'll see her again and we've arranged to see Jo and Dan for xmas and new year in sydney which'll be good. So it's back to just the 2 of us for now :)
We spent the next 3 days just relaxing by the lagooning and looking into a few plans for further down the coast. But 3 days of nothing was definately more than enough so it's on to the next leg, Kroombit cattle station!
