Hey guys!
Long time since i wrote, been so busy i havent got time at all -
So 2 thursdays ago i took some of the kids to a local swimming pool, the kids loved it! It wore them out though but it was so lovely to see them enjoy themselves, they rarely step foot outside the orphanage so it was brilliant fun! The pool is beautiful too so on some of my days off/after work im going to get some exercise! In the evening i went to canal walk, which is the largest mall in the south africa, and possibly africa? not quite sure...but seriously its massive!
On friday the kids were shattered after their trip swimming, some were ill today too so they had to rest lots and were all grumpy - not very nice! In the evening i went out with Meggan and Kate and met with Meggans work friends, had a brilliant time, different experience to clubbing back home but was fun! We went to a club called the living room which is just out of town. We had a few disasters in the night including footwear where we ended up racing around cape town in a beetle to get kate some high heels! Fun times fun times (made me realise how much i want a beetle though...cough cough)
Saturday i had a drive all along false bay and all up the coast around Gordons bay- where you could see in the distance cape point, beautiful beautiful! We drove to Hermanus in the end, which in the winter, the bay is full of whales (i didnt see any as its summer here) and we had a picnic above the beach in the sun. On the way home we drove through the mountains, passing apple farms (including where appletiser is made) and vineyards...and we stopped on a mountain where you over look the whole of cape town.
On tuesday i had a lot of messy fun with my kids! we did hand/feet prints and paint ended up everywhere but we had lots of fun...the kids prefered printing me with the paint rather than the paper though...
in the evening a group of us went to canal walk again and had dinner along the canal.
Wednesday was brilliant, it was an adventure day! First of all we started in Hout Bay, which belongs to the seals- you can get trips out to islands that are overcrowed with seals, but it was windy so i gave that a miss! But had coffee on the bay and got a view of the seals for free- always pleased with a bargin! We then had snoek and chips for lunch (snoek=local fish) before we headed back in the car to head to cape point! On the way we cut through a town called scarborogh! We drove through Table Mountain natinal park and finally got to cape point, we had to climb lots of stairs and walk a bit but in the end we reached the top where you had the most beautiful view ever. Cape point is the southest you can go in africa, and its where the indian and atlantic ocean meet, you could actually see the differents in the water. Brilliant trip...then to end it we went to Boulders beach which is where the penguins live! They waddle around on the beaches and are lovely. I had such a lovely day, exhausted by the end though!
Friday- reached 34/35 degrees today, very hot. New girl arrived at orphanage very hard to deal with her as confused to whereabouts and not liking the other kids (although they are being brilliant towards her!) In the evening went to avrils for a braai (BBQ) as it was her bday. Met all the family etc was very nice.
Saturday- took a long hot drive along west coast to Langebaan, it reached a whopping 41 degrees! Amazing place, with lagoons and stunning beaches, deffinatley going to go back up there for a week to appricate the beaches (and sun) in the evening went to meggan's cousins 21st at an airbase, had a lovely evening - cheap booze (r7 for beers which is like 60p!), staied over night in a little hut/two room and headed home in the morning.
Sunday- went to Kirtenbosch gardens with lara and kate and ross to a concert, the gardens are lovely but just ended up drinking wine and having a picnic- laras car broke down but had fun pushing it and getting it to start etc! Funny lady in heels jumped out her car and was bossing us around because we were in her way! funny times. went to a gig in the gardens cant remember the blokes name but was fab, we ended up only paying entry to the gardens and not gig and we ventured through trees and ended up in the fenced off area?!
Monday- best night ever, far better than a monday fez night! properly hiked up/rock climbed lions head (just by table mountain) for abotut an hour and a half. got to the top and managed to see the sunset on one side and full moon on other. over looking cape town it was the MOST beaitful site i have ever seen. deffinatley doing it again! Had bubbly at the top too. Brilliant night!
Must dash but will write soon, enjoy the snow while im baking in the african sun!
much love xxxxxx
