We are in sydney! Wooooooooooooo!
We left Adelaide on sunday...just about made it to the airport on time!! Got to sydney in the afternoon and after waiting for the non-existant sydney shuttle for a good hour we finally found a lift into the city!! This took forever though..so didn't actually get to our hostel until late afternoon, but still had a wander down to the harbour front through the Botanical gardens (which are gorgeous) to see the opera house and the bridge. So the sky line looked exactly the same as in the above photo - Sydney sunset!!Â
This is our first dorm experience which we can only describe as....interesting!!! Fright of our lives when we opened the door and our 100 year old room mate said hi!! But it could be worse..... the french girls seem nice but we can only get so far as they dont speak english to well and we both seem to have forgotten our french (not a good sign!!) We haven't really made the best impression so far either, strolling in at 5 in the morning (after a night out with some crazy canadians!!!) and gettin up and 6 am one morning!! Oh well!!Â
First day we sight saw/seed (?!) and were just a bit hung over, all still looked beautiful (just about ) though! Started at the Opera house and worked our way aroud circular quay, the rocks and Darling harbour. We also went up Sydney sky tower (slightly better than the Carlsberg sky tower!) which had 360 degree views across the city -amazing!!! By the end of the day our legs were aching!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus we were already in severe pain from biscuiting the day before...seriously getting old before our time!! That night we had to cook our own tea for the first time...exciting!!! The sad thing is..it actually was lol! Managed not to poison ourselves though!
Today we have been on a daytrip to the blue mountains, which meant the 6 am get up!!! Not so fun!!! Was definately worth it though....we saw loads of kangaroos in the wild, went on a 3 hour trek through the rainforest-didn't quite remember that in the tour description so was bit of a shock to the system and our poor legs!!! After lunch and a didgeridoo show (unfortunately i didn't capture rosie's attempt on film...music to my ears it was not!!)Â we went on another trek through the rainforest to see the three sisters...all the scenery was very pretty!!!!! Thankfully we didn't have to walk all the way back up the mountain, instead we all boarded the steepest railway in the world back up to the top - oh dear lord! Was a tad scary!!!
Tomorrow is our last day in sydney so we're planning on cramming in the harbour bridge, a jet boat ride around the harbour, bondi beach and manly...hmm we'll see!!
Keep in touch!! Love Becca and Ro xxxxxxxxx
