G'd evening all!! Reporting from Adelaide now, seems like only yesterday we were reporting from Singapore!
We arrived in adelaide on Saturday morning and were both extremely tired after not such a fun flight from Singapore-a 5 am touch down in melbourne which is not so good when you have an excited ten year old waiting for you at the airport!! However, we tried our best and managed to last at least 2 hours before heading back to bed. Â For the last week we have been staying with Becca's family in Adelaide hills. Its been really nice having all our home comforts, clean clothes, proper meals and a proper (double) bed each, but wierd sleeping in different rooms and we have been spolit rotten! Its going to be a bit of a shock to our systems returning to the backpacker lifestyle.
On our first day here we went to Kangaroo Island on the ferry which was just a tad rocky! The weather was not exactly what we expected it would be and felt almost arctic compared to thailand's tropical climate. In the day we visited Seal bay where  you may be suprised to hear we saw........ seals!! In the evening we went on a penguin hunt and saw lots of tiny fairy penguins all courtesy of our tour guide brad (who becca fancied the pants off...slight exaggeration i would like to add!!) (only slight i would like to add!!) Then went for a yummy roast dinner. We have eaten a ridiculous amount this week - fattening ourselves up for the weeks ahead! If you expect us to come home skinny and tanned we'll be coming back fat and pasty at this rate!!
Next day on the island we went to a national park where we visited Admiral's arch and the remarkeable rocks, which were in fact remarkeable! The scenery was gorgeous and more what we expected Oz to be like coz the sun came out! After dinner we went on a little nature trail to try and find some Koala's and Goanas but had no luck, only to get back to the car and find two in a tree above our car! Then it was back to the ferry and home.
We spent our next few days in Adelaide being lazy bums and enjoying not having to get up early or really do anything! We went into the city one day and got a bit lost - was easier to find our way around bangkok! In trying to find the beach we found ourselves starring in a commercial in the tourist info place! Yes we are now famous across the whole of Adelaide!! Down at the beach we managed to find a nando's which made Rosie's day!! We aslo sorted out the nest leg of our trip up the east coast and are both very excited about it now!
Yesterday we got pampered in a spa/hair dressers in the vullage where becca's family live. Possibly the high light so far (joke!) It was seriously appreciated tho! (they dyed over becca's carrot top nicely!) Don't think i'm going to leave rosie in charge of the blog in future...she can hardly talk her hair had also taken on a lovely orange shade...and post-haircut well what can i say BIRD'S NEST (it did look nice but no GHD'S...uh oh!!!) That afternoon we visited an aboriginal art shop and both got a painting after hours of deliberation. They are original aboriginal though!
We were up verrrrrrrrrrrry early this morning to go watch Nuala (becca's cousin) play netball for a local side. Was freeeeezing cold but we have now decided to take up netball when we get home! After that we drove down to the river to take out becca's unc's boat. We both got a go driving it and managed not to crash (just about) and went on "the biscuit" ( a donut) off the back which was ......... wet but lots of fun, especially at the speed he was driving. Footage of us both flying off it and skidding across the water has been captured!
Is our last night in Adelaide, off to Sydney tomorrow and start the Oz experience on Thursday. Only 5 weeks left :( !!!!!! Anyway better go pack/ wash the river water out of our hair! Until next time :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
