This weekend we had Pat & Barb come down from Dublin to stay. We picked them up in Carlow on Saturday morning then headed to Co. Laois. Our first stop was in Erroll, this is where Eamon & Pat’s grandfather is buried. Once we found the graveyard, it was very easy to find the grave as it is right inside the gate. Pat found it quite weird as the grave stone was for his grandfather Richard Brophy (same name as Pat’s dad) and for his brother Patrick Brophy (it was like looking at his own grave). The grave yard had a ruined church in the middle of it which gave it a lovely feel (and there were even grave diggers digging out the back). We then headed to Ballybrophy (which means brophy town), to say that it was a little disappointing would be an understatement, the only thing in Ballybrophy is a train station. At least Eamon and Pat have been there now.Saturday night we all went out for dinner with Karen, Danny, Siobhan, Loraine and Robin to the local Indian restaurant which actually has great food. A good night was had by all, topped off with Eamon singing the Gambler at JJ’s karaoke.
