AHHH BYRON BAY.....probably the only other place i decided i could call home besides Coogee. it is a small laid back town...a crossover mix of surfers and hippies. after leaving Surfers Paradise and arriving in town, Claire, Sarah and I decide to go to the Beach Hotel for a Sunday session...a huge bar with a band and outside patio. def could see myself here on Sundays instead of the Palace...what a traitor I know! i am doing the oz experience bus down the coast and they have compulsory stops along the way for overnights...that is how i landed at the cattle station known as kroombit...i was excited to arrive to have a "bush tukka" meal and do farm life for a night...a night is about all this princess can handle! we arrived and stayed in a converted barn to a hostel...had our meal around a huge picnic table with a couple of other buses....then the activities began...

so we arrived in Airlie Beach after Cairns to go sailing in the Whitsunday Islands. I was super excited as every picture i had seen looked like pure paradise...as we arrived, we were informed our hostel was known for bedbugs and just being dirty in general...the first room had ants all over and hair growing on the floor...when i complained, i came back to find a can of ant killer on the counter...self-efficiency is a must here i guess....claire and i booked onto...

Maggie Island....what fun it is there! basically an island in the middle of the ocean that is incredibly relaxed and just amazing. I loved it there! The hostel was a bunch of chalets along the beach. Had a quiet first night and the next day was spent lounging around the pool being a bum. Not a bad life being a traveller! wow...what can i say about Cairns!?! it was a action packed week there...after flying from Alice Springs where i realized as i was boarding the plane i left my phone in the van from the hostel, i finally arrived in Cairns. had a free day the first day there where I got a feel of the city and just relaxed. the next day it was whitewater rafting on the Tully River...seeing as my trip thus far has been with non-English speaking people, I was placed on a raft i dubbe...
