second day at sea!
We are properly into our second day at sea and everyone will be pleased to hear that Barbara has recovered fully and is back with the land of the living. She was looking SO much better this morning and we are all really happy for her. I know it is a horrible feeling when you are sick and fair play to her, she has manned up and is now really enjoying herself. It is actually rougher seas today than it was yesterday but we won't tell her that! Today is another sea day and we have had a full day of fun. Please excuse any grammar or spelling mistakes in this blog....I am most
certainly half cut after spending much of the night at crooners bar working our way through the martini menu! This morning, David and i went to the basketball course where, amazingly, he beat me at basketball but lost to me at
indoor cricket.
We invented a cool new cricket game and we were so excited that we dragged Gary in to the fun.it was all bound to end in tears because ALL three of us play to win. Gary is 74 years old and STILL he beat ....no....THRASHED David and I. He hit six off six balls. We had to hide from Barbara the fact that he got
injured throwing himself to the ground to stop a six. He also injured his finger stopping an unstoppable hit from David....shhhhhhh don't tell Barbara!!After the epic cricket game in which the old man put us both to shame, I redeemed myself with a Basketball three point shoot out.
I made three of my five shot absolutely thrashing the other two. (okay david made two of five but still.....i made three!) I am in awe as to just how good at cricket Gary still is....he is an inspiration.
After cricket and basketball we decided to lose at another trivia....seems to be par for the course on this cruise!
David and I had a theory....not many youngsters on this trip and lots and lots of old people means they have accumulated a lot of
knowledge. We did quite well on the afternoon trivia where we got 15 and a half out of twenty. The winners got 18......
David and I went swimming for a bit after trivia...it is so nice having the pools to ourselves. No one else seems at all interested which is fine by me. :-D I did lots of lengths whilst David chilled out and then reads his book.
David went for a nap mid afternoon ish and i decided to go to the gym. I wasn't in there long before Dave joined me and we had
a really good work out. (This all helps us to feel better about the amount we are eating and drinking!!)
Tonight was the first of two formal nights and so we dressed up and went to our evening meal quite early ay Michelangelo restaurant.
the food was, as usual, amazing and we all really enjoyed it. The champagne fountain was great, as usual and the captain made an appearance.
i always find it slightly disconcerting when the captain comes to these functions....who is driving the ship! David and I left Barbara and Gary to enjoy the music and champagne fountain whilst we returned to crooners and our bar fly seats. The crooners bartender is a chap called Deepak....he knew me and Dave by name and said that he recognised us from other
cruises! we are still trying to think where we first met him.... He is terrific though as are all the crooners staff on
every single cruise we have been on. This evening was a good night in Crooners. We met some really nice people at the bar who will be added to Facebook once
we get home. The notable additions will be the lovely Andy and Tina who are divorcees! As in....divorced to each other but decided they
made a mistake and got back together. Really really good guys and Andy knows his football! Tina said she was disappointed in me
for knowing so much about football, cricket and rugby but hey ho...I never admitted to being a girly girl! David and I are now back in our room enjoying sandwiches from the 24 hour international cafe. We are going to chill and watch James Bond on
the movie channel. I suspect Gary and Barb have long been in bed!Last sea day tomorrow and then, the next day, we will hit our first port. Having a great time, miss my cats!
