1st Formal Night.
So tonight was the first of three formal nights on the cruise. Mum...can I take the time now to point out that I told John some time ago we were going on our honeymoon cruise and I would not be around for his birthday!! Ask him....it was on skype we chatted for nearly 2 hrs!!!
I also told you when I last called you but you were a bit tied up at work. Anyyyyyyway....
tonight was the first formal night for those of us who made the effort. Dave looked the business in his white tuxedo, black bow tie and black trousers. He was by far the best dressed male. I wore my red silk cocktail dress....yes a dress! I can dress up when required lol.
We were quite shocked though to see the lack of effort on the part of some of the older guests. There are only THREE formal nights in this fourteen night cruise....three times to make some kind of effort. Here are our nominations for those who DID make that effort.
Kudos to....
1) The lovely Japanese couple. The lady in a gorgeous red Kamano and the gent in a bold red shirt with bamboo buttons. They looked the biz.
2) The man in the full scottish kilt outfit. He looked brilliant too.
3) The 80 year old couple in the full tux and cocktail dress. Both looked brilliant.
Shame on the following :-
1) the couple wearing the matching slouchy jeans and sweatshirts.
2) the man in the white mac. (the same mac we saw him wearing yesterday in the pool area)
3) The bare chested man in the lift who looked like he wanted to start a fight with anyone who looked at him.
I really am not the dressing up kind. But it is part of a cruise that there are some formal nights. If you don't want to take part....then stay in your room or go to the pool area! Don't sneer at those who want to be part of it.
Anway...we are about to go for our meal...steak at the Bayou Cafe. They specialise in Cajon and Creole food. Nom nom. We generally do the buffet eating but it is nice to go somewhere a bit special on a formal night.
I have my trainers on under my cocktail dress though. :-D I tried the posh flip flop thing....agony. HOW do people wear flip flops. They kill.
Our first stop tomorrow....Mexico yay! I get to swim with dolphins. I am soooooo excited.
Love to all. xxxx
