Retired & Traveling
We were supposed to sail to a new port yesterday, but the river was so high that our next port was under water. So--they were offering a premium tour of a Creole plantation that I wanted to go to, but Kateva wanted me to go with her on the freebie at 8:30 (the tour I wanted to do left at 8:00 & lasted 4 hours). I told her I wanted to do the other tour but she pretty much insisted I go with her...so I agreed. Then this morning right before she was leaving for breakfast, she tells me she doesn't want to do the 8:30 tour at all! After I closed my mouth, I told her she needed to go because it was our last day and she'd already made me miss the earlier tour. So off we go--the wheelchair situation worked out better today and all was good. They were busing us 45 min to our port that we couldn't dock at, and we were one of the first groups to arrive at Nottoway Plantation & Resort. The home was beautiful but had a fairly steep staircase to go up and she couldn't climb it. There wasn't any other alternative for handicaps, so she told me to go ahead and she would wait. The tour took about 45 min with a docent and after I got out, I looked all over for her. The weather was perfect--clear, low humidity and sunny--complete opposite of what it was sposed to be today. There were beautiful gardens and all kinds of places to sit outside, but she got upset and took off back to the boat. I found this out after I missed a bus leaving for the boat. By the time I managed to catch another bus heading back, it was lunchtime. She was waiting for me at a table we usually sit at for lunch. Lots of yummy salads on the buffet today. We have to set our luggage out tonight to be picked up, so I got my large bag all packed. I'm ready to get home. Our last dinner was fair--I ordered the duck and it was medallions...good but not what I was expecting. I think I had a whole bottle of wine--not feeling great, think I'm coming down with a cold. :((
