Technically, we’ve already been in Vermont: back on—when was that?—Friday, wasn’t it? We had dinner with Laurel and Bob in Wells on—yes—Friday night. (So much time goes by.) But we didn’t have a chance to see it, just in and out. So, this is the Vermont entry.
You might be wondering why it took us five and a half hours to go 177 miles, when it only took five hours on Saturday to go 244 miles.
Answer: different route. On Friday, we had interstates most of the way. Today, we had a lot of interstates, but we took a different route to get from I-95 over to I-93. On Friday, we took SR-101. It’s a good road, but further south. Today, I figured, why go so far out of my way? I found out why. SR-202 cuts miles off the trip, but you can only average about seven miles per hour on the small, windy roads. I think it also takes a detour into the Twilight Zone, because there is no way it can take that long to go that short a distance. We had planned to go on to Shelburn, VT, but it was getting late, and I was whining. We found a KOA in Quechee (pronounced KWEE-chee), VT, and we decided to stop for two nights (tomorrow’s our anniversary, and we want to relax).
This place is really nice, and there are lots of things to do (there’s a model train museum a couple of miles from here). Looks like fun.
I didn’t install the tire transmitter.

belinda Ok, now *this* is looking more like fall, kind of. I am confused why I am looking at Sunday 09 Oct entry? As in, why did I only get notified today that it was up when it happened a week ago?
Shannon WoW! gorgeous!!
Shannon Looks so peaceful :)
Shannon Did they paint the chairs while you were there or is this a new place?!
Shannon I ditto what Belinda said... I was thinking the same thing as I looked through the pictures.... NOW it's starting to look like fall over there!! Yay!
wjmccain We hated to leave. You should see the place we're in today. Yipes. We feel like sardines.
wjmccain Same place. They had several chairs sitting around the pond.
wjmccain This place was really beautiful and each day there was more and more color. Apparently it's not quite peak yet. Laurel reports it's spectacular in the north. But we've decided to go south. Go figure.
wjmccain We're posting several days at a time. So everyone is getting one e-mail but there will be multiple days on the blog.
Leigh Ann Gorgeous. Happy Anniversary!!
Leigh Ann Exellent camp ground. I'll have to get Doug to see these pictures so we can go there too!
