Here we are at day 28 with several more weeks-worth of stuff to see and do. So, yes, we ran out of time. We're going into San Bernardino today, then head north toward home. We might make it tomorrow (Saturday) or stay one more night somewhere and get home on Sunday. We’ll play it by ear. Right now, we’re barreling west on the freeway.
Kingman was overcast and threatening this morning. We got rain and some lighting over night, but it wasn’t bad. As we left Kingman, we saw storms over the desert with big lightening bolts. Quite impressive. But, somehow, we managed to miss the storms and had fairly nice weather all the way into San Bernardino.
At 9:55 am, we crossed into California: last state on Route 66.
For lunch, we stopped at Peggy Sue’s Diner in Yermo, CA, which is outside Barstow. Out back, they have Diner-saurs (their spelling) in a nice, park-like area. Out of there and a quick stop for gas and then westward.
In San Bernardino, we saw the other Wigwam Motel; there are apparently only two of them left. The teepee rooms look just like the ones in Holbrook, but the grounds are more manicured—very Southern California. We figured this would be a good place to stop the trip, since it would have taken us several days to go into Santa Monica (it's 80 miles, after all--well you know LA traffic). We'll come back down here sometime and see the things we didn't have time for.
We got back on "the" 210 and headed toward Castaic. Friday afternoon in SoCal. Actually, the traffic wasn’t too bad, but an old man with a walker was passing us.
DAILY ENTERTAINMENT... courtesy of Shannon
Story time about a 135 pound man trying to lower 500 pounds of bricks from the 6th floor using a rope and pulley. Very funny. Almost every spot on his body was injured. We laughed and laughed. (What sounds wrong about that?)

wendy Looking forward to seeing all of your pictures and hearing travel stories again. It's been a fun ride. Thanks!
Brudder Welcome back to good old California. Home of 30 million folks and 60 million cars.Let's see....while you were gone...Palo Alto sued Arnold for signing the illegal alien acceptance bill and now wants to suceed from the state. Meg fired her illegal housekeeper and the ex-employee sued Meg for paying her only $23/hour. Carley claimed Barbara once hired an illegal hairdresser. Nancy landed her 747 jet (she upgraded from the 767) at the Half-Moon Bay airport and now they can't get it off the ground. Pentagon says the only available airplane is a Piper Cub. In a televised ceremony, Newsom married his tomcat at SF City hall, and Arnold got an offer to do another Terminator movie...Terminator 12. I think he gets killed in this one.Well, of course none of this news is true....but it sure could be.Speaking of wierd stuff...how does that Brontasaurus get blood all the way up to that head? Only I would think of such a question.
