This is just about it. We should be home tomorrow, if the Lord be willin' and the creek don't rise. We made it into Bakersfield after another full day of driving. We didn’t want to stop at Needles, because the forecast there was for 114 degrees. Bakersfield is soooooo much cooler at 104.

As a last hoorah, we stopped for lunch at Peggy Sue’s Diner in Barstow. It’s like stepping back in time to the 50s and paying 21st century prices. But it’s fun. We’ve been there two or three times, now, and it’s reminiscent of the 50s Prime Time Café in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, which charges 22nd century prices.

We expect to be home tomorrow in the early afternoon. Then we’ll spend the next five or six days unloading the RV and trying to get back into our lives and divesting ourselves of these colds.
