A sunny day in Hong Kong. A nip in the air by evening but warm enough for at-shirt in the sun. Still, a good enough reason to buy a new jumper!
Anyways, big news. Moved hotel. after 2 nights with very little sleep I was concerned that lack of sleep would affect my enjoyment and used my usual philosophy on solving problems and threw money at it. New hotel, in Kowloon rather than central Hong Kong. No bad thing.
After hotel gate, took the mrt out to the eastern most point of the tram lines and boarded the top deck of a tram made of wood, no wider than your average hatchback. I sat and looked out as we meandered our way through the chaotic traffic to Victoria park where someone kindly nudged me to tell me it was the end of the line. Quite an experience and a great way to see parts of the city!
After leaving the tram I made it to wan chai wet market where things were coming to a close but still enough for me to see the live fish on sale and the raw meat ready to be butchered.
From wan chai next stop was temple street night market... The underground was packed. If only I had remembered the star ferry, would have been a much better option! The night market was quality, a real buzz about the place and friendly stall owners who you haggle with to get something of a good deal (or at least I think you haggle).
With purchases taken care of I needed some food. Hong Kong has loads of places to eat. I'm sure they are all high quality, after all, great smells are round every corner! I went somewhere that didn't have great smells. And didn't serve beer. A petit disaster!
Beef brisket and rice consumed, I headed back to the water front for a great view and a couple of Tsingtao beers. It's a clear night tonight. Great view. It would be dangerous if I lived here.
